Whoops I accidentally watched the this episode before the first one yesterday thinking that only one episode was available. Watching this one first and then the first episode worked pretty well though lol

My biggest issue with this version of events: the lack of focus on Ui's current status, despite her fate being shown in the flashbacks. It's far more logical to assume that touching the little Kyubey restored every memory EXCEPT that all-important one. Which makes no sense, BUT it's the only way any of the rest of this makes sense.
-Touka and Nemu refer to Ui almost as if she were dead. They consider her a means to an end at best, a mistake in a long list to be fixed at worst. They aren't her friends anymore.
-I'm sure Iroha is happy that Touka and Nemu remember her, BUT she does not have a freak-out moment in which it's made obvious that she knows where Ui is. That should have overridden any joy of reunion, or at least made it short-lived, and then she should have focused entirely on saving Ui. Since that doesn't happen, the most logical assumption is that she still has no idea where Ui is. Note that she says "fix our mistakes" and not "let's save Ui and everyone else", you would think that would be high enough on the priority list for Iroha where she would state it outright, separate from the other mistakes. Which is why I much prefer the version where all three genuinely don't recall happened to Ui. Because then, them not caring about her makes sense -- and even then Iroha cared eventually in that scenario. So that no one seems to here, really stands out. And not in a good way.

UwU I understand it :3

Wtf? Nemu could stand the whole time and she was just using the wheelchair cuz she was lazy?

enammie • 2 years ago

She isn't lazy. She's more likely an ambulatory wheelchair user. If you are going to spout something please do research.

Sargeant Johnson • 2 years ago

Its a joke about how she was always in her wheelchair the entire series and randomly the anime decided to make her stand for dramatic effect, but if you're going go off with the "but how dare you question muh disability! I am so offended!" crap, fine.
If she was an amulatory wheelchair user, then she would only be able to walk short distances. We should have seen her walking in the hospital during scenes where she only had to travel short distances if this was the case, but we didnt. On the other hand, there is no way nemu could have stood on top of mothman over the span of a few of episodes (at least a few in universe hours) if she actually needed a wheelchair because she couldnt stand for long.
Simply because of the fact that she's been standing for so long already, its impossible that she actually medically requires a wheelchair in the first place. More likely its just that she isnt actually supposed to be able to stand at all, but the anime director made the call because it would be awkward for her to be in a wheelchair while on top of mothman. As someone else already stated, she isnt able to use her legs at all in the source material.

enammie • 2 years ago

All I'm saying is don't spout something that actually causes issues for real disabled people because "if someone stands up or walks for short distances in wheelchair theyre lazy and just faking" ACTUALLY harms disabled people. YES I don't like how they write her as a disabled person because this is Magia Record and they don't do much research, but it doesn't erase the fact she is more likely based off real wheelchair users especially those who rely on them for certain conditions.

Sometimes some people who have wheelchairs might have days when they need them and might not. Just because you decide "its a "joke" towards a fictional character" doesn't erase the fact what you state is used towards real disabled people.

not sure how it is in the anime, since at this point they have definitely change the plot. but in the game, i think nemu is unable to use her legs as she has trade them for the power if i not mistaken
